Join us as a YFU Volunteer – an adventure filled with unique experiences, occasional challenges, and plenty of fun!

Who are we looking for?

  • Compassionate, responsible adults with an understanding of the dynamics of young people and families.
  • A strong commitment to child safety.
  • Open-minded, adaptable adults with excellent communication and mediation skills.
  • A keen interest in global cultures and perspectives. Prior experience as an exchange student or host family is a bonus but not mandatory.

Your Commitment:

  • Obtain a valid Working with Children Check.
  • Provide three referees.
  • Uphold the YFU Code of Conduct.
  • Undergo our mandatory training (online).

The Role:

Local Coordinators guide students and host families in their local community through their exchange journey by conducting monthly check-ins and reporting to our team on the student’s progress.

There are also options to:

  • Join our interview team – assessing prospective host families and interviewing outbound student applicants.
  • Assist with our student and host family orientation sessions
  • Collaborate with local schools.
  • Promote the benefits of exchange programs through presentations and at expos.
  • Recruitment of new host families.
  • Join the Travel Support Team – meeting inbound students at the airport and guiding them to connecting flights, trains or buses.
